    John Henley (1692-1756), known as Orator Henley, founded the Oratory, a dissenting chapel cum philosophical academy, in premises near Lincoln"s Inn Fields in 1726. This volume, thought to have been compiled by Henley himself, contains pages of notes in his own hand as well as printed items relating to Henley and to the chapel, and various extracts and advertisements.
